In a breast reduction (mammary reduction), breast volume is reduced to decrease weight and improve freedom of movement in everyday life. The aim of the procedure is to relieve the spine and ease symptoms such as back, neck and shoulder pain.
Our surgeons in Düsseldorf tailor the breast size during breast reduction individually to your body proportions, so that a harmonious shape results alongside the health benefits. Depending on the starting situation and desired result, different techniques are used.
T or L incision
This method is ideal when a significant reduction in breast size is desired. The incision runs around the nipple, vertically downwards and along the breast crease, creating a T shape or, for less extensive reductions, an L shape. With this technique, larger breasts can be reduced by several cup sizes.
O incision
The Benelli technique, often referred to as the O incision, is suitable for minor reductions. A circular incision around the areola means that hardly any excess skin needs to be removed. This method is particularly gentle and leaves only minimal scarring.
I incision
For more moderate procedures of up to 500 grams per side, the I-incision technique, also known as the Lejour technique, is suitable. Here, only a single vertical incision is made, resulting in significantly less visible scarring.
