Nasolabial fold filling with hyaluronic acid by Aesthetify

Every person develops a nasolabial fold over the course of their life – this is a completely natural process and part of the anatomy on both sides of the face. It develops naturally through laughing, mainly due to the skin sagging, and can vary in intensity from person to person. The nasolabial fold, also known as the "naso-labial groove", is a bilateral indentation in the skin that runs from the nostril to the corner of the mouth. The extent of the fold is individual, varies in intensity and can develop through ageing, but also through significant weight loss, or may simply be genetic. Despite its colloquial name "laughter line", the nasolabial fold results in harsher facial features and makes the face appear tired and worn out. Injecting the nasolabial fold with hyaluronic acid helps the face look much fresher and more approachable again.

Frequently asked questions about filling the nasolabial fold

Yes, the formation of the nasolabial fold is normal and unavoidable. Everyone develops it over the course of their life – only the extent of the folds varies from person to person, depending on the individual condition, firmness and volume of the skin. A minimally invasive procedure can be worthwhile if your own self-confidence suffers because of the folds.

As the effect of a treatment with hyaluronic acid does not last indefinitely, and we as humans inevitably continue to age, repeat treatments with hyaluronic acid are recommended to maintain the desired aesthetic of the nasolabial fold. The details of repeat treatment with hyaluronic acid should be discussed in a personal consultation, as individual requirements should be taken into account for every procedure.

It is possible that you may notice slight bruising at the relevant spot after the treatment. However, this is no cause for concern and does not affect the result of the filler treatment. That said, bruising is generally very rare with our treatments, as only blunt cannulas are used to fill the nasolabial folds. This reduces risks and lowers the likelihood of bruising.

Swelling occurs only in a small number of cases after treatment of the nasolabial fold. Should mild swelling develop in the affected facial area, it will subside again after a few days. Generally, you are immediately presentable again after filling the nasolabial fold.
