Hyaluronic acid is a substance produced naturally in the body. It plays an important role in moisturizing the skin as it has the unique ability to bind large amounts of water. One gram of hyaluronic acid alone can bind six liters of water. It therefore helps to provide the skin with optimum moisture and protect it from drying out. Hyaluronic acid thus supports skin health, suppleness and elasticity and ensures a radiant and more youthful appearance.
When the natural production of hyaluronic acid decreases with age, a wrinkle treatment with hyaluronic acid can plump up the skin and effectively remove wrinkles. Wrinkle treatment with hyaluronic acid is very gentle and virtually painless. The results usually last for around 1.5 years, in some cases even longer.
Botox® is a well-known preparation for treating wrinkles and has been used in aesthetic medicine for many years. Very good results can be achieved during wrinkle treatment, particularly with mimic wrinkles – such as forehead wrinkles or crow’s feet.
Mimic or dynamic wrinkles develop over time due to increased muscle activity. If the muscle contracts, for example in the forehead or eye area, wrinkles become visible, which can intensify and deepen with increasing age. In contrast to hyaluronic acid, Botox® is not injected into the wrinkles but directly into the muscle to remove them and prevent them. If the wrinkles are too deep, they may not disappear completely.
A Botox® wrinkle treatment is usually painless and only takes a few minutes. The effect lasts for around four to eight months – depending on the amount of Botox® required and the individual’s metabolism.
SCULPTRA® is a wrinkle treatment method based on poly-lactic acid components that stimulates the skin’s own collagen production. This tightens the skin and makes it appear smoother.
In contrast to other fillers, SCULPTRA® does not act directly on wrinkles, but slowly and sustainably on the entire skin. The effect is 100 percent natural, effectively removes wrinkles and does not appear artificial. Wrinkle treatment with SCULPTRA® usually lasts for two to three years.
For a SCULPTRA® wrinkle treatment, one to four sessions at intervals of three to four months are usually recommended in order to achieve optimal results.
In laser therapy for wrinkle treatment, the skin is stimulated by micro-lesions to produce collagen in the subcutaneous tissue. This can reduce scars, diminish wrinkles and rejuvenate the skin. As a rule, three sessions are recommended for optimal results. Compared to other methods – such as hyaluronic acid or Botox® – laser therapy often has a longer-lasting effect, as the newly formed collagen plumps up the skin in the long term.

The durability of a wrinkle treatment depends on the method and individual factors. SCULPTRA®, for example, can last up to 3 years.

There is no general answer as to which product is better for treating wrinkles. Many individual factors play a role here, such as the cause of the wrinkles.
