During this procedure, we remove excess and sagging skin from the upper eyelid. If necessary, we also reduce individual fat deposits to achieve a more open eye area. For an even better effect, the tightening of the upper eyelids can be combined with a mini-facelift in the upper face area. This includes lifting the outer part of the eyebrow, making your eyes appear more alert and fresh.
During this operation, excess skin and fat deposits under the eyes are removed. The treatment can also help to reduce bags under the eyes and improve the appearance of the eye area. Another major advantage of this procedure is that it leaves virtually no visible scars.
This procedure is very popular and widespread in Asia. Asian eyelid correction, also known as double eyelid surgery, involves creating a visible crease in the upper eyelid. This method of eyelid lifting opens up the gaze and visually enlarges the eye.
The eyelid lift is performed on an outpatient basis at our clinic in Düsseldorf. The entire stay at the clinic – from arrival to discharge – takes around 3 hours. The procedure itself only takes 20-45 minutes per eyelid. We will provide you with comprehensive information about the eyelid lift beforehand. You will then be given a local anaesthetic or put into a twilight sleep so that you do not feel any pain during the procedure.
The small incisions required for tightening are made in inconspicuous areas. Our experienced team works either with laser technology or with a fine scalpel. This ensures that no or only minimal scars remain, which are later only visible as very fine lines.
After the operation, you will be given prescriptions for painkillers and an antibiotic ointment. If necessary, you will also be prescribed eye drops. About a week later, we will arrange a follow-up appointment to remove the stitches and check the wound healing. Of course, the Aesthetify team is always available to answer any questions or problems you may have.
Before the procedure, you will have a detailed consultation with one of our plastic and aesthetic surgeons. You will define your goals and can ask any questions you may have. Your surgeon will take plenty of time for you. He will explain the eyelid lift procedure to you step by step, as well as measures to support wound healing.

You may experience temporary blurred vision, double vision or itching in your eyes for a few weeks after the operation. The prescribed eye drops can alleviate these symptoms. As a rule, you will be able to socialize again after 7 days.

Common side effects of an eyelid lift are slight swelling and bruising as well as a slight feeling of tension in the eyelids. Some patients experience temporary irritation of the cornea and conjunctiva, increased sensitivity to light or blurred vision, but these quickly subside.

After an eyelid lift, hematomas may occur which will disappear within 1-2 weeks. You should avoid physical exertion for the first 2-3 weeks. Keep your head as high as possible, even when sleeping, to reduce swelling. Many patients also find cold compresses very pleasant and helpful.

1.
The results of an eyelid lift can usually last for many years, with individual factors influencing the durability. A healthy lifestyle and careful aftercare and skin care can help to ensure that the results last for a long time. With increasing age, however, the skin can slacken again. Therefore, a repeat procedure may be considered after a few years.
2.
No, a professionally performed eyelid lift does not usually impair vision. The procedure aims to remove excess skin and can even improve vision, especially if drooping upper eyelids have restricted the field of vision. It is important to choose an experienced surgeon and follow all aftercare instructions closely to minimize the risk of complications.
3.
Can I wear contact lenses again after the treatment?
It is recommended that you temporarily refrain from wearing contact lenses after an eyelid lift. In the case of an upper eyelid lift, you can resume using contact lenses after approximately one week, while a break of around 2-3 weeks is advisable for a lower eyelid lift. However, always follow your surgeon’s specific instructions, as the healing time may vary depending on the type of procedure and individual factors.
