Breast augmentation
by Aesthetify

Many women are dissatisfied with the natural shape of their breasts and want full, feminine breasts and an attractive shape. Surgical breast augmentation, also known as augmentation mammaplasty, is a surgical procedure in which breast implants or autologous fat are used to increase breast volume and correct the shape of the breasts. The operation is usually performed under general anesthesia and takes about one to two hours. The implant is placed through a small incision, often in the breast crease, so that the scar is as inconspicuous as possible. The implant for breast augmentation can be integrated behind the breast tissue or the pectoral muscle. Once the implants have been inserted, the incision is sutured and the healing phase begins. This operation can have a positive effect on the patient’s self-confidence and body image.

Overview

Which implant for breast augmentation?

Round or teardrop-shaped implants

Breast implants are available in various shapes, which differ in terms of curvature and width. Common shapes include anatomical, ergonomic and round implants. Anatomical breast implants give the breast a teardrop shape, round implants provide a full cleavage and ergonomic implants adapt to the body’s proportions – for a particularly natural breast augmentation result. While some women only want a slight volume adjustment, others strive for significantly larger breasts. In a personal consultation, we determine the right shape and size based on your anatomy, your lifestyle and your individual wishes.

Silicone implants for breast augmentation

At Aesthetify, breast augmentations are performed with silicone implants. They are filled with cohesive silicone gel and offer a natural feel and look.

Placement of the breast implant

Your satisfaction, your well-being and a highly aesthetic result are our goals for breast augmentation in Düsseldorf. To insert the implant, a pocket is first created either in front of or behind the pectoral muscle. The placement can influence the aesthetic result. Our experienced surgeons usually recommend submuscular placement (behind the muscle). Your experienced doctor at Aesthetify will discuss this aspect with you in detail during your consultation to ensure that you are completely satisfied with the final result of your breast augmentation.

Many women want firm and full breasts, but are concerned about possible scars. At Aesthetify, our experienced plastic surgeons make every effort to keep the incisions for breast augmentation as small and inconspicuous as possible. The incisions are placed in less visible areas, such as the edge of the nipple (transareolar) or in the underbust crease, which is only visible when the breast is lifted. Another option is the incision in the armpit (transaxillary), which leaves no visible scars in the breast area.

If there is still a visible scar, we offer various non-surgical methods to reduce its visibility. Ask us about the best options for you.

Accompanying aesthetic procedures for breast augmentation - also with autologous fat

Especially after pregnancy or after losing a lot of weight, women often want other procedures in addition to breast augmentation in order to optimize their silhouette and feel comfortable in their skin again. Other cosmetic breast corrections can also be combined with breast augmentation in a single procedure. For example, many patients feel uncomfortable because of their areolas or inward-pointing nipples. After pregnancy and breastfeeding, the areolas can enlarge or the nipples can pull inwards. We can perform these corrections at the same time as the breast augmentation so that you are completely satisfied with your breasts in the end.

Autologous fat instead of implants

Would you like to tighten your stomach or thighs and enlarge your bust at the same time? Many women prefer breast augmentation with autologous fat in such cases. Fat is suctioned from a problem area and injected into the breast. In many cases, the result looks and feels more natural than with breast implants. Breast augmentation with autologous fat allows you to achieve two goals at once: fuller, more feminine breasts and a tightening of unpleasant problem areas. Find out more about the possibilities of breast augmentation with autologous fat in a personal consultation.

  • Capsular contractures
  • Infections
  • Reactions to the anesthetic

Recovery

The recovery period after breast augmentation varies from woman to woman. In most cases, there is swelling in the breast area and minor bruising at the suture site in the first few days after the operation. These symptoms usually subside within a few days to weeks. Slight pain is not uncommon, so we will provide you with sufficient painkillers to ensure your comfort. As a general rule, you should take it easy for the first few days and avoid strenuous physical activity and sport.

Most women can return to work just a few days after breast augmentation, depending on the physical strain at work. We will be happy to discuss the details in a personal consultation. Even after the operation, we will be on hand with valuable tips to help you achieve the best and most beautiful result.

Position of the implant

The breast augmentation implant can be placed either above (epipectoral) or below the pectoral muscle (subpectoral/submuscular). For very slim patients with small breasts and little subcutaneous fatty tissue, placement under the pectoral muscle is recommended in order to achieve smooth and harmonious transitions in the décolleté area. Breast augmentation can also be combined with a lift if the skin is severely sagging – both corrections are possible in one procedure.

1.

Will I lose feeling in my nipples after breast augmentation?

A change in sensitivity (increase or decrease) after breast augmentation is normal and need not worry you. The implants can affect sensitivity during breastfeeding and sexual intercourse. In most cases, this normalizes after a while. A permanent change rarely occurs and is usually due to nerve damage.

2.

I don't want my breasts to look fake. How can I prevent this?

The consultation process before breast augmentation is crucial. Our priority is a result that meets your wishes. During your consultation, let us know how you would like your breasts to look after the augmentation. We will choose the size of the implants to suit your anatomy, your lifestyle and your wishes. Implants that are placed under the muscle have a lower profile and therefore feel more natural. We also recommend silicone implants if you want the result to look as natural as possible.

3.

What if I decide later after the breast augmentation that I no longer want large breasts?

Don’t worry – breast augmentation is not a decision for life. It is an important and good decision if you suffer from small or misshapen breasts and want to feel more comfortable again. However, if at some point you are unhappy with your enlarged breasts, you can have the implants reduced in size or removed completely (explantation). As the implants stretch the skin, your natural breasts may look slightly different after removal. We also offer breast lifts to ensure an aesthetic result after removal. Let us inform you about the options in a consultation.

4.

How soon after giving birth and breastfeeding can I have implants?

We recommend waiting at least six months after the end of breastfeeding before having a breast augmentation. This ensures that your breasts have returned to their normal shape, which is important for a beautiful long-term result.

5.

How long do breast implants last?

Breast implants that we place as part of breast augmentation can remain in the body for life and do not need to be replaced routinely. Some women nevertheless decide to have them replaced or removed, whether due to changes in taste or physical changes. Replacement or removal is possible at our clinic at any time.
