Facelift
by Aesthetify

A facelift is a surgical procedure that rejuvenates the face and reduces wrinkles. Many people no longer feel comfortable with their ageing face and are looking for modern facelift methods of aesthetic plastic surgery. The procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia, with incisions made in inconspicuous areas to tighten the skin and remove excess tissue. Despite a positive attitude towards age, medical procedures can help to improve the external appearance. A thorough examination is necessary before a facelift in order to select the most suitable method. Facelift techniques include the traditional facelift, mini facelift and endoscopic facelift. Risks such as infection, bruising and nerve damage are possible, but can be minimized with careful aftercare.

Overview

Types of facelift

(Deep plane) facelift

A particularly effective method of facelifting is the deep plane facelift. This technique not only tightens the superficial skin, but also repositions the deeper tissue. This leads to a lasting and profound lifting effect with very natural results.

MACS-/Mini-Lift

In a technically uncomplicated, outpatient operation, an incision is made directly in front of and behind the ears. The resulting narrow scar fades after around 3 months and will be barely visible. Excess fatty tissue and sagging skin are tightened.

The excellent rejuvenating effect will leave you looking permanently fresh and youthful! This type of procedure is particularly suitable for patients whose skin ageing is not yet very advanced. The cheek area, drooping corners of the mouth, nasolabial folds and smaller areas are effectively tightened.

Mid Facelift - Lift of the mid-face area

The tightening of the mid-face area corrects sagging skin in the mid-face zone, smoothing out nasolabial folds and wrinkles around the eyes in particular.

Tightening of the lower facial area / neck lift

The facelift in the lower face area is mainly aimed at tightening a sagging cheek area and the neck.

Procedure of the facelift

Before you are given an appointment for the actual procedure, you will have a detailed consultation with one of our specialists. During this consultation, you can express your wishes and expectations so that we can determine the best option for you. We will answer all your questions and explain the individual steps of the lift in detail. You will also receive important information on how best to support wound healing after the procedure.

After the operation, recovery is gradual. Most patients can return to work after around 10-14 days, as the hematomas and swelling will have subsided by then. To speed up this process, you should wear a support bandage around your head and neck for 1-2 days, which we will apply after the facelift.

In the weeks following the facelift, it is normal for the skin on the face to feel a little numb and for there to be a slight feeling of tension when opening the mouth. These symptoms usually subside within a few days to weeks. Healing can be accelerated by sleeping with your head elevated.

The final result of the facelift can be seen within 6 months.

1.

Can a facelift be performed together with another procedure?

Yes, a facelift can often be combined with other procedures. It is often performed together with an eyelid lift or supplemented with facial implants or lipofilling (the body’s own fat). Depending on your wishes, our specialists can also combine a facelift with a nose correction.

2.

What can a facelift not correct?

A facelift mainly tightens the mid to lower part of the face and should not be confused with a forehead lift. Separate procedures are required to correct the forehead or eye area. A forehead lift or eyelid lift can be performed at the same time as a facelift to achieve more comprehensive results.

3.

How long does the result last?

The results of a facelift last on average 8-10 years. The skin is tightened to create a young and firm appearance. Later, a mini facelift can help to maintain the result.

4.

How visible are the scars?

The incisions are made as inconspicuously as possible, usually in natural folds along and behind the ear so that they are not noticeable.

5.

What are the risks of the operation?

As with any operation, there are risks involved in a facelift, but these are very rare. Possible risks include infections, hematomas, nerve damage, complications during anesthesia, scarring and hair loss at the incision sites. Your surgeon will discuss these risks with you in detail.
